School project

In the second half of the 19th century, a new way of teaching was born in the US schools - the project method.
According to this approach, only that which is useful to people, that gives practical results and is directed to the benefit of the whole society, is true and valuable.
For a child, cognitive activity and curiosity are enough for full intellectual development.
The child should acquire experience and knowledge by “doing”.
Training should take place as a predominantly work and play activity, in which the child’s taste for self-learning and self-improvement develops.
In the process of independent research, a child needs to discover the properties and patterns of objects and phenomena, and the teacher can only answer his questions.
In Russia, S.T. Shatsky, who in 1905 organized a group of researchers who carried out the first work with children and teachers.
Today, the method of project-based learning gains high importance and reaches a new level.
Using materials from the site Polyhedr.com and materials from the collection series "Magic Edges" you will be able to captivate children first by modeling three-dimensional geometric bodies. The simplest ones are platonic ones, the more complex ones are archimedean ones, the more complicated ones and, finally, very beautiful stellate bodies.
By assembling a model with their own hands, children have questions, and what is it, what is called, who invented it. They can find the answers on the pages of our bright, colorful edition “Magic Edges”. And, probably, in this way, it will be possible to interest the mathematical properties of these bodies and the beauty of mathematics.
